What are some cool christian bands?

Newsboys....I think they'd be rock...or possibly alternative (I'll warn you right now, I'm not 100% solid on my genres)

Jars of Clay~ They do a lot of things ranging from worship to something along the lines of...easy listening range (of the songs that I have heard anyway)

Sonic Flood~ a lot of worship songs, but usually hyped up a little so they're more upbeat.

Stacie Orrico~ She Started out as a Christan Artists, but actually shifted to the "secular" side-- without selling out on her morals (once again, from what I've seen so far) Her more recent albums are a little R&B-ish.

P.O.D.- I don't like all of their music, I know some people who really really do, but they tend to be Rock/Metal...harder stuff.

Super Chick (Super Chic, aka, Super Chic[k])-- I tend to think of them in the same grouping as Relient K, though they have a different sound.

Petra-- Rock

Out of Eden -- I haven't listened to their newer albums, so I don't know if they're still good, but I enjoyed the album "No turning back". They're sort of R&B with some little rap segments tossed in here and there.

Wow there is a lot of great christian bands out there. Newsboys, Mercy Me, Jeremy Camp, Chris Tomlin, Remedy Drive, Lincoln Brewster, Barlow girl, Audio Adrenaline (although retired their cd's are great) Google sound and spirit. It is BMG musics christian site. You can search and listen to demos of artists songs to see if you like it. That way you can hear the music first too see if it suits your style. They have everything from Christian contemporary, Gospel, hip hop and so on.... I hope this helps I know how you feel I don't like the watered down stuff either I am not ashamed of the name of Christ and I only listen to christian music.
