I've been on Dianette for almost 6 months. It's stopped my skin being oily and developing blackheads, but I still come up in cysts and my skin is very dry and flaky and I look like a prune. I'm going to come off it shortly and ask to be put on Roacctune. I'm 43 and need to get my skin problems licked once and for all because I'm sick of it.

Hi,
I took Dianette when I was about 20 for similar reasons. I think it worked within a few months, certainly I remember that I only took it for 6 months all together. It really did help me, and once I came off it my periods were a lot more regular as well as my skin remaining clearer.

My daughter was on Dianette for a while and it really dried out her skin to an extent that she had extreme dryness around her eyes which left dry red flaky patches. It is a very harsh way to treat spots and there are so many other topical agents that you can use without resorting to a chemical which interferes with one of the governing hormones ion your body. Speak to your doctor.

I was put on Dianette as I had polycystic ovaries. I managed to take it for about 4 weeks as I felt awful the whole time. I went back to my GP who put me on an alternative which was much better. Go back to your GP, ask for hormone tests to find out why you're suffereing from acne and find a suitable alternative.

you dont give any indication of your age - but I am 42 and had suffered for about the last 12 years with acne since my wee boy was born - which I never had as a youngster. I have a merina coil which could have helped but didn't. My face bled it was so bad - turns out to be perioral dermatitis - which can be brought on by a change in lifestyle or stress. My doc gave me Lymecycline Antibiotics and Rozex Gel. After 1 week I am a happy happy lady.

I took it for my spots, but can't remember how long it took. 6 weeks sounds a long time though. Maybe get a second opinion. Make sure you keep going out though chicken, don't want to become a hermit and remember, people are often too worried about themselves to notice you!

zinc is a much better option to treat spots. i take it daily with plenty offresh fruit and veg and that has worked brilliantly to keep my skin clear. a weekly facial scrub works.
as far as ur question goes not very long within the first month. remember your body has to adjust to the change. and stressing over it will make it worse
