My daughter says that her friend was slowing to stop at a yellow light and the instructor said "go ahead go gooo you can make it". So her friend went through and ...failed.

That's not right, he set her up. Those kids trust what the instructors say. What if she would have gotten in an accident? Would she have lived for the instructor to fail her then? I hope someone goes to the school and reports what he did to her. He could have set that in stone in her mind as well and that will haunt her life of driving. So not cool!

Haha my driver's trainer did that. Not the people at the DMV that do the license tests though. But yeah, my driving instructor was constantly telling me to "move it! move it!" It was a little intimidating. That was a few years ago though. I don't think it's a good idea for them to do that. Even though people run yellow lights all the time, it's probably not the best idea when you're still learning.

My opinion is that driving instructor is an idiot, Yellow lights last longer when the speed limit is higher. As a rule of thumb I estimate about one second of yellow light per every 10 mph (e.g., a yellow light on a 45 mph road lasts approximately 4.5 seconds). and if you mean like she failed the driving test then what kinda jerk is he?

I think that he isn't a very good instructor maybe the friend should speak to the driving instructor about the incident

Hrmm, sounds like the guy is tired of his job and getting his jollies by tricking students into failing. I think she should get a different instructor.

he's testing you! a driving instructor actually encourages you to do something that you know is kind of illegal then you shouldnt do it. if you were with a cop, would you speed through a yellow light? think about it......

she shouldn't have failed if the instructor told her to go. she was relying on her teacher to teach her. the instructor is the one who really failed. Thank god no one got hurt

Unfortunately, she was doing the right thing to start with and let herself get tricked into doing it. They try to get you to turn down a one way the wrong way too...as in take the next left, when they know it's a one way street to the right. You have to think, the next left I CAN take...

She'll get it next time. She'll be prepared!

I run yellows all the time. The failing part is uncalled for.
