I love going to sporting events Rockies games are cheap, the avalanche and Broncos are fun as well. The mountains are of course not very far away so definitely go hiking, biking, or skiing at some point, head over to boulder and try some of their crazy resturants, go rock climbing in the flat irons, go to cherry creek park and play in the water, there are a ton of great malls my favorite is cherry creek and flat iron. There are always events at pepsi center, red rocks, coors ampitheater, buell theater, etc... so go watch a play, musical, ice show etc.. There are a few dinner theaters around town, a great zoo and museum. the aquarium is super fun. walk around the 16th street mall, if you like rides you could go to 6 flags Elitches, or water world, there is always seasonal things like the parade of lights, parades, the bolder boulder marathon, taste of colorado food festival,in larspur there is a renassaince festival, and on weekends and wednesdays there is mile high flee market where tons of people head to shop for new and old things. I want to take cooking lessons soon and there are a few places that offer that, you can take tours of the beer companies, as well as the Denver Mint.... I hope this gives you a good start. I think Denver is a great place and if you look around on the internet you'll definitely find things to do.

A big thing here is skiing/snowboarding, traffic makes the drive longer than an hour though. I just moved here (Denver) last year. The Coors brewery gives free tours daily and that is pretty cool. Fort Collins is close and they have a brewery tour too. Also downtown has great restaurants! The weather here is awesome, welcome.
