A week to 2 weeks. I just sprained mine 2 weeks ago and my doctor cleared me. As long as you ice and elevate it and rest you should be good to go.

First off, who diagnosed that you had a "minor sprain?" At the most basic level, sprains usually mean that you tore some ligaments in your ankle. Not to worry as this is normal. What you need to do for treatment is basically rest and apply ice to the affected area for about 3 to 5 days depending on the condition of the injury.

I suggest that you put off playing sports or plyometrics as this would only hinder the progress of your recuperating ankle. However, you can do weights, just focus on your upper body program.

Best of health and I hope that this was able to help you.

You should alternate heating and icing it, every 20 minutes. Keep it elevated, especially when you sleep (stack a bunch of pillows at the foot of the bed). I've sprained my ankle nearly 100 times, and sometimes the ones that initially feel the worst are the ones that take less than 10 seconds to shake off....and sometimes a small one will nag me for a week. You'll know when you're ready to run on it again properly.

you should ensure that it is a sprained ankle and not broken, packing ice on it will help but u should always see a doctor if u think its more (just for safety) and once the swelling goes down and the pain sub-sides u should be O.K (bout a week

If it is very minor I would say a week at least, then start to do things and see how it feels. If it feels better try exercising again, but if it hurts give it another week at least.
