Listen to your body, it will tell you when it's too soon. Remember to RICE rest, ice, compression and elevate. Try walking in the pool and gentle cycling on a stationery bike to start, then return to your sports and weights gradually and keep those weights light until you rebuild to where you were. Don't run any marathons for a while!

i recognize you do not favor to hearken to this...yet my chum is one of those events addict as of about 2 years in the past, and in view that she purely randomly began go us of a operating and cycling contained in the woodland close to her residing house, driving 3 days a week (horses) song practices 3 days a week, (sundays she is going for extra runs and motorbike rides) without previous preparation formerly that except for rare runs outdoors her once a week driving instructions and faculty song practices (she is one of those enthusiast...i do not see how she does it yet...) she sprains her ankle(s) a minimum of once a month. SPRAINS by no potential HEAL thoroughly. her mom is a nurse and continually reminds her of that, she wears a tensor/ace bandage, and an ankle brace, on each and each and every ankle no matter if its sprained or not (heavier ones for even as theyre honestly sprained) because she replaced into so reckless (and he or she's good the following as I kind this lol, yet she's busy ranting about how her horseshow replaced into cancelled because of rain lol) she ended up rigidity fracturing an already sprained ankle playing volleyball, (and he or she sprained it for the duration of baseball). the purely ingredient she will be able to do now might want to be vacation. No distance operating or sprinting, no cycling, purely driving, because that is the purely ingredient that doesn't damage it. she will be able to not be thoroughly healed until eventually the end of September, and has to spend her funds that continually is going to horse stuff, on physio. that is protecting her decrease back from the 800 m provincials. the end effect sucks...that is going to heal a lot less in case you play...and besides the undeniable fact that she nonetheless excercised, nonetheless rode, nonetheless went to song meets and horseshows, she regrets it, because the everlasting soreness and soreness from braces and tensors holds her decrease back. (she also has Osgood-Shlatters affliction and has to placed on 2 kneee braces on each and each and every knee even as operating and cycling) flow ahead and play, purely be extremely careful about no matter if you've formerly sprained it. observe from chum: "i might want to favor to assert that Jamie's being dramatic...which perhaps the wording makes it look like that, yet sure i'm very damage companies... yet no soreness as long as i'm wearing the braces...yet she's good, sprains by no potential heal. I roll over on my ankle, it hurts for hours or days, if I vacation, similar ingredient. be careful..."

If you have a first-degree sprain, you should be out about 3-5 days. Make sure it feels stable and check it by doing lateral movements along with figure 8s. Be sure to use the RICE method for the next 48 hours if you need to. Also take an anti-inflammatory if allowed.
R-REST
I-ICE

I didnt listen to my doctor when he told me to wait 3 weeks and it took about 3 months to heal. Not fun. My ankles still swolen and i sprained it in augest.
So keep off it for 3 weeks so you dont have to wait 3 months.
