In the Pokémon universe Pikachu are mammal-like creatures that have short, yellow fur with brown stripes on their backs, black-tipped ears, and an unusually shaped tail, resembling a lightning bolt. They are often found in forests, plains, and occasionally near electrical sources (such as power plants), on most continents throughout the world.[3] Pikachu often travel in packs, and are rarely territorial, however, when threatened, a group can generate an intense electrical offensive, and the electro-magnetic forces exerted by the resulting field can even produce a short lived, localized thunderstorm
within the games, it is typically a low to mid level electric type pokemon that is generally only used for short amounts of time, due to it's low defenses.

Pikachu is a Pokémon character. According to the Pokédex, its number is 25. Pichu evolves into Pikachu, and it evolves into Raichu. The name derives from "pika", the onomatopoeia of a lightning strike, and "chu" is a sound of a mouse, thus indicates the type of this pokémon as an "electric mouse". Throughout the many different seasons of the show, Pikachu has accompanied trainer Ash Ketchum.
