How long does it take for a bone to lose it skin? What do bones look like? What missing children have there been? I live in Iowa the bone was about as wide is a competer screen, a little smaller. I also found a sandle and a cigerate next to it.

The only way to know is to call the police. Its NOT a 911 call, but do call them. They'll have the bone checked to see if its human.
If it is, they're the experts, they'll check out the whole area, and probably start digging, too.
