The rolling stones did it in the 60's.( precisely 1966!)
They were the original writers of the song!
From the link below...
The song began with Wyman playing organ at a recording session, in parody of the group's former co-manager Eric Easton, who had been an organist. Charlie Watts accompanied the organ by playing a vaguely Middle Eastern drum part; Watts' drum pattern became the basis for the final song. Brian Jones contributed the song's signature sitar riff (having taught himself to play), and Jagger contributed a lyric seemingly about a man mourning his dead girlfriend.

Rolling Stones did the original. The Animals (Eric Burdon and the New Animals) have their version on the album 'Winds of Change' (1967)

AFAIK, the Stones did it first.

According to wiki, the Stones wrote it, too. But it's been covered by a lot of groups. I just heard it last night! One of the figure skaters at the Chinese Grand Prix was skating to it. I think it was one of the Japanese women.
I also heard a great "bellydance" version on Eyes of the Baladi. (-: It's a great song!

well again you think wrong the reason why i critisized you on a question was because you did exactly that to one of my questions and as you was rude to me i thought well why not be rude back..I also have worked hard to get my kids what they need so your not the only person struggling with finance and life i just choose to not rely on charity were others are far more entitled to the help because they have nothing. If you work 6 days a week the surely you don't need handouts.
