This is not normal. They both need help. My 5 year old doesn't even like to be helped in the shower.

This is not normal behavior at all. A 17 year old does not need help in the shower. If he is afraid of the "water droplets" then perhaps he may have hydrophobia (the fear of water). If this is the case, he should go to the doctor and find out ways to help relieve this fear. Your nephew should not need his mommy to help him bathe, and I just think he sounds like a pervert.

Give me a break ! Are you kidding ? Is your nephew retarded or physically handicapped ? If so even with that his Mom should STEP OUT OF THE SHOWER ! Normal behavior is finding your seventeen year old nephew in the shower with a seventeen year old girl . NOT HIS MOM !

This is far from normal behavior. I've heard or attachment to mommy but this is over the top. One year away from being out of high school and...you would think.....on his own and he still baths with mother?
His mother did not do this boy any favor. At his age....regardless of the fact this is his mother....this is purely sexual for him. Sure they may not do anything but it has to be a turn on for him. Guys his age are at their sexual peak. He should be chasing girls his own age not bathing with mother.
Does she not have a husband? Is this how she makes up for not having anyone?
Sorry but this is unbelievable.

I would definatly have made him start showering alone along time ago. If she is going to continue to treat him like a baby then he is going to act like a baby. I have 2 boys ages 9 & 4 and they both shower ALONE! I dont think that is normal in anyway shape or form!

i think that there might be some psychological matter in this issue that the mother has to check out with a doctor. it isnt right for the mother to aide her 17 yr old son in the shower. it goes against a teenager having their own privacy with their body.
goodluck.

That is definitely atypical, and actually really disturbing. Unless he is mentally or physically challenged this is considered wrong. Sexual abuse, or just sexual relations could be possible in this situation. Past the age of six or seven a child should be able to bathe himself.

No, I think they both need some professional help, his mother should know better and done something about this a long time ago.

this is not normal behaviour, if its a true phobia, he should get some professional help. hes mother has to stop baby-ing him as this will never help him stop being afraid of water droplets
