man, that thought is VERY interesting!
My dad used to wear Old Spice. I wonder if my mom( in a nursing home) would recognize the smell.

It's one of the BEST things I remember about my dad!
His SMELL!

Memory is a marvellous human item that the brain posseses! When some asks a question and you know you know the answer but cannot bring it up straight away the brain keeps on searching just like your computer you are using and hey presto! up it comes. The elderly always have the answer but take a little longer sometimes and given the right words to trigger the right brain cell where the knowledge is the answer emerges.
Put any smell under someones nose and the brain will associate it with the sight of that item and the same with the sounds as well.
So to keep all our senses working ,especially with the elderly, is constant memory jerking questions and discussions of life past and present.
