If it is true, then why is it that I can NEVER find clothes that fit? I have an hourglass figure, but NOTHING ever fits me probably, it is like they make clothes for rectangles. The bust is always too tight, and the pants are always too tight around my hips, but then, I have a tiny waist. It really pisses me off. Do you think that they are modeled after the hour glass, or rectangle.
And for reference, I am a 36-24-39

For the idiot who said that I am not an horuglass, is an idiot. There can be a 3 or more diffference between bsut and hips, they do not need to be exactly the same number. Marliyn was an hourglass, and her inches with 3 inches apart. MORON. And I am not a size 8 or 10. I am a size 4. Get your **** right before you embarrass yourself you ******* idiot.

Not since the 1950's - everything now is designed for the neophyte teen-child like physique. I am in agreement with you as to the difficulty of fitting a more shapely figure being a 38-28-38 myself. I find mixing and matching my only option. Nordstrom Rack has a great line of t-shirts by Psst that are very lovely and can be easily adapted to formal and casual, then at Macy's they have a lovely line of Gloria Vanderbilt jeans and gypsy skirts by various designers pair with sweaters in the winter and light jackets and you have a great look. It's tough but by looking to the classics (like Marilyn Monroe and Roslyn Russell) we can create a lovely look that flatters your natural curves and utilizes what is currently available in the market. Then again you can always go Rock-a-Billy and look totally retro HOT!

Firstly, you don't have an hourglass figure. You are actually pear shaped as your hips are bigger than your bust, with a smaller waist.

Clothes sizes usually have about 10 inches between the waist and hip measurement, so that would explain why you have this problem with the clothes being tight on the hips and loose on the waist.

You are size 8-10 on your hips, but only size 2 on your waist!
You may need to have your clothes tailored or you could try wearing hipster type jeans/trousers and sit lower.

heck clothes hardly ever fit right when you dont have them custom made...I have rarely found a pair of jeans I like, but then again I have always been overweight...I am radically slimming down now so hopefully next summer when I have to buy new clothes I find something I like...
