scrape out a little
"v" where the cracks are and re tape and mud the cracks. sand then paint. or u can go with a textured ceiling look. i charce 0.25 a square foot per room to give u an idea on price

If its real plaster get patching plaster rather than sheetrock compound. Make sure to dig out all the loose plaster before filling the gap.

Hi,If you are going to all that work you do not want it to reappear after expansion and contraction.You can buy kits at your favorite builders supply store,which has a mesh roll material you put on crack ,then apply plaster type material over it .When dry, sand and paint.This method will allow for expansion and contraction. Use acrylic latex painters caulk and just fill the cracks. The caulking is flexible and the cracks will not come back. If your ceiling is white, you may not even need to repaint.

Yeah, what rosco said. I get it at the paint store and it's called Crack Kote. Easy to use, a little messy, cleans up with water and you'll never see it.

try using spackling.
then paint over it.
works well.
