The teaching profession has its share of bad apples. But there are many teachers who have touched people's lives in a positive way. We never forget them!

When I was in the third grade we had a teacher from Kenya who was also a foreign exchange student. I was a very shy quiet student who would never speak up. Miss Okabi was the nicest person I had ever met and she brought me out of my shell. It`s been 50 years and I haven`t forgotten her.

It's hard to pick just one that has touched my life in a positive way. I've had so many teachers that have nurtured my intellect and creativity.

There was Mrs. Coburn, my sophomore history teacher, who taught that history doesn't have to be about dead people and events. She taught that history is always happening and that it's never obsolete. She gave humanity back to historical figures who had long ago been placed upon pedestals.

Then there was Mrs. Parnell, my sixth grade English teacher, who taught me that I wasn't "weird" for reading Shakespeare's works at the age of 11 and that being a writer was an attainable profession. She encouraged me to continue reading and writing, no matter how other people put me down or said I couldn't do it.

Mr. Veach, my second and third grade teacher, made learning fun and was one of the most compassionate teachers I've ever known. I wish all younger kids had a teacher like him. More kids would like learning, that's for sure!

There are so many other teachers who have touched my life, but these three are the ones that stick out the most. I wish I could find them and let them know what a difference they made for me, but this simple answer will have to do.

I wish I could remember this teacher's name but anyway. In 5th grade there were 3 classes and another teacher that taught. We stayed in our main classes most of the time but certain subjects we would change classrooms, like middle school+ does. So the 4th teacher taught history and also some literature. She stands out the most because of the interesting projects she would have us do. Like doing our names out in Egyptian hieroglyphics. The best projects was were we got into groups and each group got a chair and they had to turn their chair into something that represented a book or series. My friend and I picked the Goosebump's series. After they were finished they were put into our local museum for a few weeks!
The other special thing about this teacher was she took care off a sick boy that attended school. I don't remember exactly what was wrong with him since it was so long ago. I believe it was some disease he was born with. He was bed ridden and had a bed in the back of class. I think school was mostly a stimulation for him because if I remember correctly he couldn't do anything on his own not even talk. I just thought how amazing this teacher was to take on the role of caretaker and school teacher. Some teachers can't even get the teaching part down let alone giving special attention to this boy. Sadly the boy passed away that Christmas.

I don't know if this is the best story.

But when I was a freshman in High School my first year English teacher taught me that I would never stop learning for the rest of my life.

She was so right. And I am grateful she shared this truth with me.

Thank you Mrs. James!!!

One teacher of mine in college told us that she would not except late work and her assignments were tedious and kind of annoying. A common theme of alot of college students including me especially in that class was to do enough work to get through the class and skip some things that I didn't wanna do or was too busy for. This is the theme of alot of college courses because life does happen and sometimes you can't get all assignments in.

Anyway, how she touched me was she told everybody that she wouldn't put out grades until we turned everthing in. I thought for sure that I had enough work in to get atleast a C but she wouldn't tell me. She kept telling me that I might not pass unless I got all assignments in. So even up until the last day of class and a week after that she told me and other students too that we could still turn stuff in until the day she had to turn grades in.

She was merciful and I ended up with a B+ in that class because of her mercy and kindness. She wouldn't except laziness and she taught me to always do everthing that an instructor asks even if it is late to still do it.

There used to be one time in my Freshman English1 elegance in prime institution. This boy ought to of made our (historic) instructor slip w/ a institution pc in her hand. I noticed from the nook of my eye, that she used to be falling in sluggish movement right into a break up (LMAO) w/ her arms within the air w/ the pc. My peers and I have been all tremendous attempted(the tip of the day) and we wasnt within the temper four giggling, however we couldnt support however snigger,so we have been making an attempt to not snigger out loud. Everyone mouths practically BUST open!!! Plus the man who made her fall, used to be simply watching at her, and walked move!!

My physics teacher asked me to toss the board eraser to him because there wasn't one in front, just one on the side board next to my desk.

He fumbled it and got chalk dust all over himself.
Then he flipped me off in front of the class.

Not too funny unless you know that it was a Catholic High School, the teacher was a priest, and he was in his full length black cassock!

Thanks Fr. Reed, you crazy Jesuit!
