ahh that funny used to work for gm, when the battery dies in the fob (the remote) some time it loses its tracking number kinda like a tv remote you buy for your tv and when you first get it or when the battery dies you have to put that code in from the Manuel.same thing each truck and fob have to be programed! go to the biggest gm dealer by and ask them to program it

Sounds like the IC in the remote is faulty. You can either bring it down to the dealer to get it fixed, or visit a locksmith. Some of them might be able to duplicate the frequency of the original remote and program a new one for you.

localnarc is right when the battery dies sometimes the truck and transmitter get out of syncronization, take it in and first ask them to test the remote, they have a tool at all gm dealerships for testing if a remote even puts out a signal, if it doesn't and you already put a battery in it the remote is junk, get a new one or if it does work have them program it eitherway
