lookin the network applet in the controll pannel and see if it is disabled.
right click it and click properties, make sure you have tcp/ip and client for microsoft networks in this list. then double click on tcpip (make sure its checked along with the client) both checkboxes should be checked to automaticly detect.
also check the device manager to be sure its not disabled there.

if this doesent solve the problem go to the store and get a network card. push it into a white slot in ur computer (turn pc off first) turn the computer on and put the cd in the drive. run the setup and you will have a brand spankin new ethernet port worth more than ur computer (about 35-50 bucks new)

You can try opening up your computer and taking out the ethernet port and plug it back into the computer and try to see if that may help.

my first question is...Is the LAN connection enabled? Second, is the card installed correctly? both hardware and software. If not, Call Dell and they will help you out.

You need to check your connection and the software loaded and try another cable.

have you tried system properties, then hardware, then device manager and then check for the status with your networks cards
may be disabled
