As I understand it, that was the hope of the founding fathers. They really wanted to create a society apart from the constant bickering of the Europeans, from whence they came. In the writings of those early Americans, they show a definite bent toward securing the safety of their decendents without having to fight foreign wars.

But, that has never worked. The Wall of China, the Maginot Line, and other fortress defenses have proven through the ages that no matter how great your defense is, the enemy will find a way around, over, under, or through it.

A good defense is often a good offense. "Pre-emptive strikes" can take out a threat before it becomes one. Of course, to have an effective pre-emptive strike you have to have flawless intelligence. And, no country has ever been very good at that.

So, we have developed "foreign policy". Sometimes, we have been too aggressive, sometimes too passive. It's not an exact science.

But, "minding our own business" is not a formula for survival in this day and age. It probably never has been.

You got that right!!! American was once a wealthy, powerful nation. There's a lot to fix now. For six years, the Neoconservatives have been keeping Democrats out of every meeting in Congress. They would lock the doors and the Democrats were too humiliated to yell. (read Rolling Stone). It's Shameful.

Now this government MUST raise the minimum wage, dismantle laws which allow our resources to be bought and sold, and jobs sent overseas. They need to pay off some of the debt to China --because the NeoConservative Republicans sold America's wealth and power to China!!

Now China is doing big deals with Africa and giving those countries HUGE loans in exchange for use of natural resources. The Chinese are in a position to take over the world, thanks to the Bush Administration's rank stupidity!

(The CHINESE were THINKING while the NeoConservative male Republican leaders were meeting with gay male prostitutes and beating their mistresses!!! YIKES)

This phase in American history is not about voting and leaving the work to officials. It's about getting INVOLVED -- at least going and listening and reading. Fat, lazy America needs to get fit and smart before the destruction of the Bush Administration sets in permanently. Get busy!!

Does any nation mind it's own business any more? With all nations going global, there's no such thing as "ones own business" anymore. There's a saying "when we point a finger at someone, there's 3 pointing back at us". Try it.

Yes, we should bring all our troops home and put them along the borders with shoot to kill orders, we should stop all foreign aid and use that money here in the USA, we should stop feeding the hungry in Africa and giving away free drugs over there when there are people in the USA that can use the food and drugs. We should just close and lock the door then LOAO as the world goes to hell in a handbasket. I also think that anyone who doesn't like it here should be forcibly taken to the airport with just the clothes on their back, tell them to pick a country and then fly them there. If they come back, execution. Execution would also be for all child molesters, murderers, rapists, terrorists and illegal aliens.

Yes we should, but the rest of the world won't let us, now people here are calling for us to go into Darfar, to stop the killing, why don't they call on France, Canada, England, Saudi Arabia, their are other countries besides us. Let them fix Darfar, we tried with Somalia and they hated us for it, they wanted their war lords, now its a haven for terrorists.

Should terrorists just mind their own business? Yes, they should, but they won't. So the US can't either, even if she wanted to.
