Spybot - Search & Destroy detects and removes spyware, a relatively new kind of threat not yet covered by common anti-virus applications. Spyware silently tracks your surfing behaviour to create a marketing profile for you that is transmitted without your knowledge to the compilers and sold to advertising companies. If you see new toolbars in your Internet Explorer that you haven't intentionally installed, if your browser crashes inexplicably, or if your home page has been "hijacked" (or changed without your knowledge), your computer is most probably infected with spyware. Even if you don't see the symptoms, your computer may be infected, because more and more spyware is emerging. Spybot-S&D is free, so there's no harm giving it a try to see if something has invaded your computer.

AdAware is one of the best SPYWARE/ADWARE/TROJAN REMOVER!

It's not a anti virus program... If you want the best there are two kinds, paid and free.. Usually paid is better then free, but there are free that are better then paid..

The best paid I would say is, Kaspersky and Nod32.. They're worth their price..

http://www.kaspersky.com

Nod32 I'm not sure about their website so google it... http://www.google.com

The best free I would have to is a toss between Avast and AVG a recent test proved that Avast has a better detection rate but AVG has a better heuristic rate (detecting viruses that aren't in the database)

AVG has a cleaner interface and very easy to use... much faster scans but not as much options or thorough scans as Avast...
Avast has more complicated but cooler and customizable interface with more options.. but slower scans yet more thorough scans...

Good luck

AVG http://www.grisoft.com
Avast http://www.avast.com/
There are free sections in the page for both, just look closely..

Ad-aware removes spyware, and it is very good at it. And there is a free version of it.

For antivirus protection, you about have to pay for it. I used Norton successfully for a long time, but some of the later versions were too much for my old computer to handle. You might look into AVG: I'm not sure if you buy that or not though.

Give up using Windows, and install Linux on your computer. Linux is immune to all viruses, malware, spyware and adware.

Linux is a complete operating system that is either free or very cheap ($10-$30) and comes bundled with a huge variety of free software.

The Linux desktop is amazingly flexible and customizable, and anyone who is used to Windows will soon feel comfortable with it - and shocked by how dull their old Windows system looks by comparison! For example, in Linux you can use up to twenty (yes twenty) separate desktop work spaces - Windows only gives you one.

Go to www.distrowatch.com to find out how to get all the popular flavors of Linux...

...then do an image search for Linux screen grabs on Google.

BE COOL - GET LINUX

Adaware is not an antivirus program. All it does is remove...adware. It can catch SOME viruses that act like adware (keyloggers and such) As to a "Best" antivirus, it all depends who you ask. there is no definate answer.
