The original group was Beyonce Knowles, Kelly Rowland, Letoya Luckett, and Latavia Roberson. Letoya and Latavia didn't like the way the group was managed by Beyonce's dad Matthew so they quit. Michelle Williams and Farrah Franklin were added to the group. Franklin went off to start a solo career, so the group was left with Knowles, Rowland, and Williams.

There was actually five .... LeToya Luckett and LaTavia Roberson . It was later revealed that the two members were unhappy with the management of Matthew Knowles, and left because of creative differences. LeToya and LaTavia took the group and its management to court, while the remaining members found two replacements by February 2000: Michelle Williams (born July 23, 1980) and Farrah Franklin.

There were originally four, and two quit. Then they got two new members, but one of them quit. Then they decided they didn't need four so they just had three. Now they're each doing their own thing.

they dropped out of the group i don't think they wanted to be a part of the group for some curtain reasons.

well, latavia and latoya had it out with mathew knowles, the manager. and farrah, who joined at the same time as michelle to replace the other two, kept missing engagements they were scheduled to be at so they let her go.

I think her and Beyonce got in a fight or their manager thought she wasn't good enough.
