Standard three tab asphalt shingles are the most common roofing materials used on these types of roofs. They are warranted for use on roofs with at least a 3 in 12 pitch, but most builders and roofers will tell you that a 4 in 12 pitch is better. I would not build a shed with less than a 4 in 12 pitch if I was going to use this type of shingle.

Good luck with your shed project.

What ever you want. Just not less than 3:12. The lower the slope the less materials, but on a 12x12 it really isn't going to make much difference. I'd match the pitch to the house or garage, use similar materials

3:12 v 12:12 you are adding 2'3" or so in rafter length so it's about 54 sq.ft. of additional roofing materials. Plus a bit in the gable materials. But that shouldn't be the only factor in your decision. I'd be more concerned with making it match the house.

average pitch for any residential building is around a 8/12 pitch. dont go below a 3/12. anything lower will need to be a "torch down" type roof. personally a 5/12 or a 4/12 would b fine. if u want storage above your ceiling joists go with a steeper pitch like a 8 or a 9/12

If you don't have a snow load problem, it doesn't make much difference. You might just measure the pitch on a building close by so they would match.

On such a small building, I would choose any pitch that looks attractive to you as the load bearing won't be much no matter what pitch you use.

16 inch centres with a minimum pitch of 25 degrees ..you will need 10 rafters
