I was thinking the opposite - "Should a real woman put the toilet seat UP when she is through?"

I think that the seat should be left up as a courtesey if the household is perdominately male (so if there are 4 people living in the house and three are men, keep the seat up), if the house is run by women, keep the seat down as a courtesey.
This is the reason why I hate my husband leaving the seat up: Men do not aim when they use the restroom. Therefore, there are splatter marks on the toilet bowl, on the toilet seat, and on the toilet lid. I do clean my toilet on a weekly basis, but, if we keep the seat up, someone's going to have to clean the toilet bowl more often, and I ain't doin it! I also think that it looks tacky when the seat is up. I think us women are more worried about how pretty the restroom looks (asthetically) as opposed to whether or not the seat is in the closed position. We have toilet lids to COVER the toilet bowl up. Unless I need to utilize the facilities, the seat and the seat cover are down at all times.
I hope that this adds some insight and is helpful!

My thoughts are that a man can use the bathroom with the seat down, it is possible. So, let's say he gets up in the middle of the night, half asleep and accidentally uses the bathroom without lifting the seat - this does not inconvenience him or cause him any distress (except that he'll probably have to wipe the seat clean when he's done.). Let's say a woman is in the same situation, half asleep, and she sits down to find that the seat has been left up. This is inconvenient (and rather disgusting!) for her. So, I think it's just a matter of being a gentleman. Also, women typically use the restroom more often than men do, so they would have to be touching that nasty thing more regularly than a man. And we tend to keep our pee in the bowl, whereas men have a tendency to splash. So, if they are making the majority of the messes, they should be the ones to have to touch that nasty thing! A real man tries to be chivalrous and do nice things for the woman he loves. I consider putting the toilet seat down a small thing that you can do to be nice.

The toilet is not the most beautiful piece of furniture in the house right? It does look somewhat less ugly with the seat and cover down while not in use. If you live alone,... who cares.
If you share ur home with someone else, have a little respect.

Yes, if he wants to share one bathroom/home with a real woman.
That's not a question of being a real man or woman ,but a civilized human being.
What if I smoke and we live together with a none smoker- will I be more "real" or cool if I smoke in the same room or at home not caring about the other person?

Feng shui says always close the lid. Then everybody has to work equally. Except for the weight of the seat, but we're supposed to be the stronger sex anyway, right?

Just how do women fall in? Do they back up to the toilet w/o ever facing it? It is total bs. close the lid and make them lift up something.

That's what I was taught. But what REALLY pisses me off is when guys don't lift the seat up and just piss all over them, expecting someone else to clean it up for them.

The person who has to clean it should be the one who decides up or down.
