Green poop can be caused by eating green or blue things in excess, like Fruity Pebbles cereal (eat a half a box in a day and your poop will turn green), lots of blue frosting on a cake, or anything else with blue dye in it. Because blue is a part of green, the blue dye interacts with the natural color of poop to make it green.

Babies often have poop of various colors due to things in their diet and adults can as well. Poop comes in a variety of colors from light yellow to black, even white. Truly black poop would be bad sign, possibly indicating internal bleeding. White poop comes from things like barium milkshakes and enemas given as a part of a diagnostic gastrointestinal x-ray.

What is the cause of green poop? (Question submitted by ap, CrAzYMiC98 and several others) I have consulted with a doctor, a physiologist and a microbiologist on this question, and the following summarizes their answers: Healthy people can have green poop if they eat a diet rich in leafy green vegetables, or if they consume large quantities of food coloring (in ice cream, cake frosting etc.). Green poop can also be caused by excess iron in the diet, from dietary supplements, for example. If the body does not absorb all the iron consumed, the iron may stain the poop green, the color of iron (II) salts. Ordinarily, the green color may be masked by the normal brown poop color, but if digestion is thrown off by illness so that bilirubin is less concentrated in the intestine, the green color may become apparent. This can happen when a person is afflicted with diarrhea. There ya go! Sorry that you have pneomonia D: Feel betterr!

Green poop ususally means that you have eaten to much sugar. Your poop is green because of the bile in your gallbladder. Your body does not absorb a lot of sugar does not need it if you have enough glucose in your body so it gets rid of it. I have green poop sometimes when I eat to much sugar. Nothing to worry about just eat a more balanced diet.

It can be something you ate or it can be something else going on in your body. If you have stomach problems this can be a big trigger. My son has Crohns and his is green some times. So you might want to check with your doctor if it keeps happening.

It probably has something to do with what you've eaten. Think back and see if you ate anything green or blue.

This can sometimes be caused by taking a lot of iron if you've recently began taking vitamins.

Maybe you ate too many green vegetables, such as spinach or asparagus, and there was nothing else in your stomach.
