If so, where in Kenya did you go? Did you feel safe there? Did anything bad happen to you in Namibia (if you went there)? And if anything bad happened to you in Namibia, how long were you staying in that city?

I am thinking of studying abroad there, but am having a difficult time convincing my parents!

Yes, I was in Kenya last August. Everything I could tell you about Kenya is here http://kenya-safari-wildlife.blogspot.com (also read the section on safety). My Dad's been several times. Nights can be dodgy in Nairobi - he was escorted from the restaurant he'd just eaten in to his awaiting car, which was fairly normal in Nairobi - but it's no different to any major city so long as you take precautions and 'know' the place before you go. Just avoid going out after dark unless escorted by someone who knows the place, would be my advice, until you find your feet. The upside is, Kenya is a magnificent country - I loved it so much I wrote a travelogue and now I've turned it into a proper travel site with loads of information and photos. If you can show your parents you're aware of the pitfalls along with the rewards then they're more likely to trust you out there. That means lots of research! I hope it all works out well for you.

Ive been there. i was part of a rescue effort on a collapsed building. we didn't get much time to ourselves-not much time off with people trapped under tons of rubble. after the rescue was turned into a "recovery" and we had a day or so before we were to fly out we stopped at this restaurant called carnivores.it was awesome check them out on goggle and especially if you go there.

I have never been to Kenya, but did you try looking up on a search engine? Like google.com or ask.com, to see what it is like there to get the information?

I found these sites look at these to see if it helps you out to help ease your parents mind:

www.magicalkenya.com
www.kenyaweb.com/
www.africa.upenn.edu/Country_Specific/Kenya.html
www.lonelyplanet.com/worldguide/destinations/africa/kenya/

I hope this helps.
