I say in 2020.I think that games will be photorealistic by then.

Never might be too pessimistic, but probably not in our lifetimes. Even photorealistic falls short of reality. The human eye can still distinguish far more colors than any photograph can capture. Furthermore, the difference between flat images and 3-D is immediately evident. For a game's graphics to be perfect, it would have to perfectly mimic reality. No distance fading except for natural atmospheric haze, full surround 3-D, unlimited mobile objects, full color. Not one of which is likely to be achieved in 15 years, let alone all.of them.

As time advances games will continue to grow advanced. Until the day that video games stop being created (who knows why that would happen) then video games will have reached their max potential. It will probably be virtual reality at some point.

Read Brave New World, in there there are movie theaters called the "feelies" We're not even there yet... and that book is ancient!!!
