Have you tried placing toys on the floor just far enough that he or she would have to move to reach? I wish I could go back to the days that my girls didn't move. You could put them down anywhere and they would stll be there.

My daughter will be 8 months on the 16th, and has within the last month learned to crawl on her hands and knees. Before that she pulled herself everywhere she wanted to go. Dont be afraid of getting in the floor and crawling around with him/her they look to you on many different things.. Another factor is weight and size. Bigger babies take longer to acheive certain things. Crawling is not something they have to learn to do. It helps out a lot, and is fun to sit and watch, I wouldnt worry to much if he/she skips this stage all together, but from experience enjoy them in this stage as long as you can. Soon you will be wishing he/she was back to where he/she layed around and slept all day....

I have a 5 and a half month old, about two weeks ago when he was on his tummy on the floor I got down there a propped his knees underneath him, then lifted him up on his arms too. Now he's doing that on his own and beginning to lunge forward. He's not crawling but he's definitely trying. Maybe it will work for your little one.

My toddler were given on all fours at 5 months and can want to rock decrease backward and forward. Then at 6 months he replaced into crawling. i imagine the time-honored is 6-8 months. My son began walking at 9 months. The window is as wide as 9-18 months for walking.

every baby is different, some never crawl. My son just rolled around everywhere, and when he could sit up he scooted everywhere until he could walk. It probably would have been easier for him to crawl lol. But just be sure to give your baby plenty of tummy time to strengthen up the muscles!

put him on his tummy and put his favorite toy just out of his reach... usually though a baby will get up on his hands and knees and rock back and forth and fall over alot before they take off.. but giving baby tummy time will help strengthen his arms to support his body weight so that he can crawl..

Why do you want to? Once they start moving around on their own, you can't keep them still! ;-) Each child is different--he/she will crawl, roll, walk whenever they are ready. My first one never crawled -- he rolled across the floor -- it was hysterical to watch.

Is this your first child? Usually with the first, every parent wants them to do things right away. Relax, enjoy the stage they are in. Because this time is precious, and it will never be time you get back.

You can't really do anything about it. It's just a matter of them deciding "Hey, I think I'll try to crawl". All babies do it at different times. There isn't a way to push them along to doing it.
