It isn't part of my regular job description, and it's a small, small company, not a big one where it would be considered an honor. I do it because nobody else does.

Have done it many times and no i didn't get paid extra. I always looked at it this way..I was honored that the company thought enough of me to train someone.

You need to spin this as an opportunity. The ability to train someone else effectively is a reflection on you, not the company. Make some personal notes about the process for future use. When it's time for your performanc evaluation or a promotion, going back to your written notes will get you positive things to share about your performance.

If you assign your salary as the company's only recognition of your value, you will never feel adequately compensated. Take a new look at your own perspective and make some professional goals.

Good luck and congrats on having the opportunity to train someone else. This is your chance to prevent bad habits and correct in-house problems inherent in the position.

Be a part of the solution, not a part of the problem...
