The pain and swelling are unbearable. You may have bruising and discoloration from the shoulder to the tips of your fingers. Get yourself to er or clinic and get it checked. Swelling with a break can extend up the arm and into the hand, remove any rings, so they don't have to cut the rings off. Remember to R.I.C.E. (rest, ice, compression, and elevation) The splint is good and you might need a sling to immobilize it while it heals. Sprains, depending on severity can last a few days or weeks. It's better to get your wrist checked out and properly treated now than to have it bothering you years from now.

You can't know, unless the injury is so bad that the bones are sticking out , or even through the skin. Otherwise, only way to know for sure is get to the doctor and have it X-rayed Couple of years ago, while we were in the middle of a big house-remodelling project, I tripped and felt a sharp pain in my ankle, Thought it was just a sprain. Happened to see the doctor about something else and she asked me why I was hobbling. Told her the story, she sent me to get it X-rayed, and it turned out I had been hobbling around on that foot with a broken bone. As a result, nowadays, I frequently experience pain and stiffness in that ankle, which might have been avoided if I had seen the doctor, had the break diagnosed, and the ankle casted right at the start. You say you are "wearing a splint" but it sounds to me as if you did not see a doctor, because if you had, he or she would have already told you the answers to the questions you a re asking here. I suggest you do see one, or you could get some grief from this joint on down the road. Remember, the hands of the clock only go one way. You can't turn the clock back to let you change something you might have done better the first time.

I have sprained both my wrists at different times. I remember mostly they were sore and it hurt to move them a certain way. The first one I didn't really take care of so it seemed to take longer to heal. A few years later when I sprained my other wrist I had it in a splint and it seemed to heal faster than my other wrist. If you're in a lot of pain you might have broke it. If it really hurts you might want to get an X-ray.

You do not say how historic you're, but when you are 23 - 30, I'd say wait approximately every week & see the way it feels. However - if you're more youthful - espcially if you're beneath 18, I could advocate on the spot xrays simply to ensure you do not influence long term progress. Many instances those matters will heal up on their possess, if it is only a fracture - or will suppose higher if it is a sprain - but when a baby (or any one who isn't performed developing) injures the progress plates in any joint, it may be dangerous information if you aren't getting it addressed immediately. Why no longer be secure & see a document - get an xray & comply with up - you do not wish to head by way of existence with a nasty wrist.

Is it very swollen? If so you could have broken it. If it is broken you will need a cast so that it heals properly and you will regain full normal function.

Go to an urgent care clinic and have them take a look at it. They will confirm what it is.
