Hi There, well here's my story i am 18 years old i had my last period on 11th September 2006. I took a pregnancy test on Monday 2nd October which showed up negative.
i then took another one Thursday the 12th 4 days after my period was due and it was positive.
I attended the early pregnancy unit as i was having light period like pains but NO bleeding they carried out an internal vaginal scan they found a sac and a baby but no heart beat. The doctor has asked me to go back in 10 days for another scan..Does anyone have any suggestions on how far gone i am or why they did not find a heart beat for the baby ?? Help would be very much appreciated. Thank you...x

You are 8 weeks pregnant.
Due date: 18 Jun 2007
The reason the heartbeat was not found is because the baby is so small.
You should have a scan around 12 weeks, and you will be able to see the heartbeat on the screen.

I work in a maternity hospital i would say you are around 8 weeks pregnant maybe a day or 2 over you midwife will tell you wen ur due date is. it is rare to see a heart beat at only 8 weeks they will do a 12 week scan and hopefully there you can see a heart beat. Hope it helps and good luck.

I was told early on in my pregnancy that I probably wouldn't hear a heartbeat, so I wouldn't panic. If the test showed positive then I'd say you're just in the early stages of pregnancy. A scan will soon tell you.

I think it takes 5 -6 weeks for heartbeat to start so i guess thats why your doctor told you to come back so they can asess whether you are just not pregnant enough to have one yet or whether there are any issues. Thats all i can really presume from what you've said as this would only make you 4 weeks or so at present.

best bet is to check with the docs, and when u have ur 12 wk scan they may put ur dates forward or a bit backwards depending on the size of the baby etc

you are probley not far gone enough to find a heart beat i think its 5-6 weeks when they see 1 thats why you have to go back

if you missed your period on oct 2nd go back 3 months and add 7 days which would be july 9th

talk to your doctor. there are a variety of reasons and they should all be discussed with your doc
