Who on here has been mugged or carjacked? How did you get over it?

I was mugged and carjacked about a year ago. That never happened to me before in my life, despite being in "iffy" places where other people have been robbed, including East Vancouver (B.C.) and areas of Los Angeles, San Fran, etc.

Then a few months later I was mugged. A month after that I was mugged again. Yesterday I was mugged for the fourth time in a year, although this time was at gunpoint - not with a knife waved in front of me.

I live and shop in a "good" area of a "good" smaller city (where I live) and each time it happens here in broad daylight in a busy place (3 times in a busy store parking lot, 1 time in front of a restaurant). I don't wear flashy clothes. I don't wear jewellery when I go out any more and never have flashed expensive jewellery. I don't walk around looking down - I DO look all around me and in each case I saw the guy (2 guys yesterday) coming. I don't get it. When you get robbed once do they put some kind of mark on you that only other theives can see?

Thanks for the ideas about maybe it's about getting money for drugs, thanks for the well-wishes, and thanks for letting me know I'm not the only one who's been mugged, etc. I was beginning to feel like it :P

I've been mugged before, but I haven't been carjacked
(I don't have a car)
I've only been mugged once before, and I only lost $30 and my watch, so now I don't walk around the neighborhood anymore.

My friend's been carjacked before and you want to know how he got over it?
He bought a new car, and completely forgot about the other one.

I don't think a mark is left, but maybe theives can tell when they'll get something worthwhile from mugging you. I mean, maybe you look rich to them or something, even though you don't wear flashy stuff. Or maybe the people that did that to you come from a "bad" part of the city and go to the good area to get what they want or desperately need.
Either way I wish you good luck so that'll never happen to you ever again.

the worse off that these looosers get the more desperate that they will become
with the streets being the home of these types the rest of us are not as safe as we should be
I think that crystal meth is probably the real culprit in your situation
