I was born in 1977. But I have read extensively about the 60's. And I think that, aside from the armed conflicts that derived from the Cold War and government repression of student protests around the world, it was a good moment in time to live. It was a time of transcendental change in Society as well as in music, worldwide.
It would have been interesting being a College student in San Francisco in the late 1960's. I have family and acquaintances that were, and their stories have left a good impression on me.

I grew up in the 60's. The music was revolutionary and primal, the social issues (the Vietnam War, civil rights, poverty, to name few) were critically important, and we were very idealistic and non-materialistic. The Counter Culture, the marches for peace, and the infusion of drugs made for an exciting and topys turvy society even more so suffering from growing pains. We wanted to change the world. It was an incredible time to be alive.

I think you'll find that most people pick their teenage years, as this was the most active development time for them, and also when they were most aware of pop culture, etc. For me, this was the 70's. But I would also back this up by saying that the diversity of great music then was phenomenal! From classic Abba, Elton John, Rod Stewart, Queen, Glam Rock, Disco, Rock, even late Beatles, Punk Rock and many more genres, the 70s had it in bucketloads.

60's and 70's were my best decades. I was in Middle & High school in the 60's. Graduated in 1970, then it was work and party and raise daughters. Great memories for me.

Definitely the 60s,best music ,life was much simpler then and people were more content with their lot.People got married and stayed married and brought up sane children who had freedom to go out on their own.We were all quite naive but it was good finding things out at our own pace and not having everything thrust down our throats before we were ready to cope as is happening to kids today.
