Because life isn't all fun and games. It's not like life is exactly one big merry-go-round. It's a HUGE rollarcoaster with ups and downs, and we don't ride alone.

Why do we get angry? People die, things don't go our way, disasters happen, wars happen. With all the evil in this world, with all that could go wrong, how could we NOT feel angry and miserable?

While I understand what you're saying, it's almost being ignorant to the issues. You aren't going to be angry and miserable for an entire life, but to ignore that it is possible is to ignore all emotions. If you break up with a boyfriend, can you not be upset? If your pet dies, can you not be sad?

We are humans with multi-dimensional personalities and emotions. Each day is different. While life IS short, we don't need to pretend that we don't get angry and miserable. We just need to make the most of those good days.

I don't think all of us go thru our lives being sad & miserable so much of it, but there are a great deal who do. From my own experience in this life, I have known many individuals who, no matter what, seem to almost 'prefer' misery over happiness, finding the negative side rather than the positive. I know a few who seem to actually cause their own anger and misery when things are going good. It's as if they can't function unless there is a crisis. (My own Mother is a classic example of this behavior) They go through life reacting, rather than acting....and there is a big difference in the outcome of situations if people immediately become upset. I was told a long time ago, by a very wise old woman, that feelings aren't right or wrong..they just are. They come and go like the tides. She explained it was good to be angry at times, but to 'feel the emotion, then let it go'. Life is what we make of it...be angry at every obstacle and life will be a pisser. Deal with things in an easy manner and you just may live longer and for sure better.

That is a good question and most of us don't realize that there is an ending point to our existance. We're angry about this war, the gas prices, the stuff we hear on the news and we are angry because we have been wronged in one way or another. We don't realize that that one day this will all come to an end. Most of us believe that we won't die so let's just be angry at the world and at the wrong doers when in truth, those wrong doers will get caught and delt with by someone else. I think that we feel angry and misserable so much is because we are impatient with everything getting handled by somebody else.

Because a lot of people at some point feel like life is going to last forever until it hits them hard that it won't. Also, people complain and piss off about stuff because it is sort of a way to justify the bad things going on in their lives and because they can't really justify it (because ultimately it can all pass if they forget about it) they keep their wounds open by being miserable and they still complain that they are angry or that life is cruel.
Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional. Meaning experiencing bad things in life is going to happen anyways, but actually letting it affect you is not necessary, but people do it anyway for numerous reasons.

Speak for yourself. Not everybody feels angry and miserable. So many feel dissatisfaction because of envy and greed. We should all try our best, then accept cheerfully what life hands us.
The result is the same by getting more, or wanting less.

Mostly because our EGOs are out of control.

We let other people/society program us to feel inadequate/angry/wonderful/etc... at their whim.

It's simple indoctrination/domestication... complete & utter brainwashing, reinforced by a societal system that rewards "good dog behavior" while punishing "bad dog behavior".

You're angry & miserable because that's the way that your masters want you to be. It makes you easier to control.

because we're always too busy sulking to enjoy it. once you admit that, try to calm down and stop dwelling on the things that make you angry. it will decrease your anger and your sadness, but it wont get rid of it.
