The safest way to respond is to pull off to the side and slow down so they can pass you. You may also want to wave your hand out the window to let them know it is safe to pass. Engaging an aggressive driver is not a good idea and can turn out very badly.

What i'll do is the moment he approaches my back, i'll tap on the brakes and make him think i'm gonna brake hard. Most of the time, they'll get a shock and immediately jam on the brakes, and decide not to tailgate you anymore. There was even a time when I did this, and the guy behind braked so hard he lost control and about 2 seconds later, his car disappeared from my rear view mirror. I had a good laugh that day.

Happens to me all the time, as I NEVER go more than 5 over the speed limit. I also drive in the right hand (slow) lane. When they do it, I SLOWLY start reducing my speed until they pass.
These are immature people that think they need to intimidate other drivers. Ignore them. They will grow up someday, MAYBE.

put on your blinker and turn somewhere into a parking lot. if theres nothing to turn into, put your blinker on and pull off the road when safe. stay there for a minute or so while they pass you so you dont get behind them and they try to be funny and slow down really slow and then wont let you pass them, a lot of people are very ignorant these days.

Dip your mirror and ignore them. Well that's the adult answer.
Slow down, stick it in 3rd and punch it every time they try to pass. That's the childish answer.
Mostly I behave like an adult these days.

i love it in the daytime,
i step on the gas and turn on the parking lights...
from behind it's hard to tell brake lights from parking/ tail lights
or at night just ride the brake lightly, on and off to keep them awake and aware
if there's a passenger in your car, use a mirror and reflect their headlights back at them

My mirror has been blurred. i'm lost & wandering ever through fact. I merely do not understand me any further... yet specific, the mirrored image that become thrown back become surprising. on no account did I see myself in that easy, earlier or through fact!!!

Feather your brakes, it will drive them nuts and they will back off. I do it all the time, get flipped off a lot, but what the heck as long as they get off your back.
