1) Take art classes--you have to know how to draw what you want to make

2) Take her to sewing classes--if she can design them, she should be able to sew them too.

3) Start reading up on accounting--if she runs her own company, this could be useful.

Basically, get her started in art and sewing. Eventually she'll develope them and get into college with the intentions to graduate in fashion design.

thrif stores have fabric and patterns-cheap- get a referbished sewing machine from a sewing repair store and let her make her own clothes.(if you don't want her to wear them to school, then set the ground rules ealy) but let her create and design!
(good grief at 11 why does she need to know accounting??)

I started sewing as a kid and by the time I was 15, I volunteered to make costumes for our annual church Christmas play. Then went on to work at a local theater group helping with costumes-they always need help. Check into a large craft/sewing store that sells sewing machines and you may find they have classes for young people.

Tell her to cut up her mum's new dress that she bought last Thursday, and redesign it.

If mum isn't happy - she's not going to be a good designer!
