I race a Porsche GT3 Cup Car in New Zealand, and to answer you're question - though it may seem weird - needing to take a wizz is the last thing on a drivers mind during a race. Even with me (I drink 7 litres of water a day) it's a case of the moment you're out on the track in the car, a mental block takes over and all nerves, thoughts and emotions are blocked out. It's almost impossible to reconcile on these things because in motorsport it takes 100% concentration on the job at hand. I've had races where I've needed to piss before a race (mostly due to nerves) however right throughout the race I could swear I hadn't drunk for a week; the feeling just goes away. Then, when I return to the pits after the race, I instantly think "oh yea, I gotta go to the toilet!". Hope this helps!

They HAVE to drink a lot of water before and throughout the race to stay hydrated. If they have to go they just wait a race is about 4 hours long not long to wait.

true story Tony stewert when racing sprint cars had to pee and there was a red flag out but if he got out of the car he would lose the race. So he peed on himself and he won. In victory lane he held the trophy right in front of his lower parts to cover up the wet spot. LOL!!!!!!!! sounds dumb but look it up it is true.

I'm guessing they hold it until they can't any longer! I know how uncomfortable I am if I have to hold it for a while - so I feel bad for them!

Hahaha that would suck. Usually they dont drink much before a race, and they always go before a race anyway. check my source below.
