What is ur opinon on the issue?
America was not founded on the freedom to not worship God: America was born on the desire to worship God in the way an individual saw best, the pilgrims came to America to escape religious persecution and to practice the worship of God as they saw fit. I would say that a country based on religious freedom (not freedom from religion) should be deeply insulted by this.
Even if the phrase "Under God" was added later: the reason it was put there is becuase it has always been a fundemental belief in our great country (You cant deny it), and someone decided it was about time we stated it.

Ever hear of the First Amendment. Banning the Pledge of Allegiance is a violation of free speech. If you don't want to say it then don't say it. How can you ban someone from saying the Pledge of Allegiance if they want? Besides if you don't like your country then leave. If things are so bad here then we don't want you. They are nothing but a bunch of punk liberals!

You forgot to include the fact that upon coming to America the pilgrims, and Columbus, started a persecution against Native Americans that resulted in over 3 million native american deaths in just over five years. (There were 12 million here initially .)
So, how then, was America "born" on the desire to worship God? Native Americans were already here and didn't believe in a Christian god, yet they were often killed for not doing so. Is that the way those pilgrims practiced the worship of God "as they saw fit"? Is that the fundamental belief that you speak of? What happened to the religious freedom of the Native Americans that you say this country is supposedley based on? Sounds a little more like ethnic cleansing than an exercise in freedom..
It can be argued, strongly, that this country was founded on secularism...Lincoln, Washington and Adams would be truly horrified if they saw how people today 'discriminate' against the religious rights of others..
This country is based on such things as equality and freedom...the religious freedom that you have should be afforded to others too. Being one of the vast majority does not afford you any more rights than those of a minority...that is what equality is all about. If that was not true then surely African Americans would still be forced to sit at the back of the bus, away from the caucasians.
Christians are afforded much in this country that others are not..and a good example of this would be the "Under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance..which doesn't refer to just 'ANY" god..it refers to a specific god..a christian god. If my child prefers to replace "Under God" with "Under no God" or "Under Muhhammed"..would that offend you as much as "Under God" offends me?
If you think this is anti-american, think again, it is anti-american to think that you have more rights to freedom in your religion than i do, or my children, or my race have in mine. Equality is for all..not just Christians.
My children..say the Pledge of Allegiance just like all other American children..they merely omit the "Under God" part...i have no problem with that in itself...I know this is a great country and I, for one, am proud to be a Citizen...

I guess they are also including the freedom NOT to believe in God, meaning the agnostics and atheists as well prolly
The Freedom to NOT worship is also a freedom and a right of every human being. If God himself gave humans the right to obey or NOT obey him ( disobeying resulting in damnation of course ), then I think what they are doing is actually not a wrong thing, even if it may not be the right thing to do.
I guess if the majority is ok with it, its ok. America IS about the opinion of the majority yes? Its Freedom is the Beauty of America that many people in MANY countries lack... Persecuting or imposing someone to "believe" or "worship" IS also religious persecution... persecuting them TO HAVE a religion :)

I think they have the right to not say it, if thats what they want. However, I dont think they have ever really thought about what the Pledge says or means. Just think about it, take it line by line and really think about what it says. Look up some of the words for an exact meaning if you must. I could really go into it but it would take forever. Pay special attention to the line,"and to the REPUBLIC for which it stands". This line doesnt mean support for our "current" administration, but for the "idea" of a republic style government. If you really put everything together you will see why these people are sooooo messed up. And just remember, if ignorance is bliss, they must be really happy people.
