To make purchases...can the secure server (or whoever) tell that it's been deactivated by magnets?

Sure you can, with two stipulations. 1) The 3 digit Card Verification Number (CVV) must match what the card issuer has on file and 2) the shipping address must agree with the billing address (Address Verification Service -AVS).

Yes!! The actual card isnt needed just the numbers on the card, expirations date, and maybe the security code in the back. You should get it replaced just to save you the hassle in the stores. Most credit card machines in stores have the option for the teller to manually enter the numbers also.

LOL I lost one of my cards once but the online folks (paypal) still had it set up, so I could carry on using the card when i didn't even phyiscally have it anymore.

Yeah, the magnetic strip has nothing to do with you punching in the card number. You can email me you card number and I'll check it for you.

Yes you go ahead girl and spend,spend.magnet did'nt hurt your ability to shop on line,only direct in a store.

you should still be able to use it anywhere - manual input of info is always an option
