I live in Sandusky and have worked at Cedar Point and I can tell you people get hurt all the time (though not always the park's fault) and people do die.

A couple of years ago a young person who had a heart condition died on a ride. She didn't know she had the condition. My aunt worked on the EMS service at the park (they also have their own Fire Department) and she worked July 4th about 20 years ago, there was an older gentleman who was at the park with his entire family including grandkids. He had a massive coronary and died.

As for falling out of rides and such I have heard rumors but I've never seen a news story or anything like that. I've heard that kids were throw out of the Mine Ride by a father who was going through a nasty custody battle but that wasn't true. People like to pass stories and feel important.

As for injuries, just this last season my friends went on the Cadilac Cars and I waited on the bench. The workers put an extra car on the track but didn't latch the track back together properly and as the Team Leader was guiding a car back into the station the car hit the guide track and the car stopped, he didn't. He was thrown several feet and cut his hands, knees and broke his sunglasses.

You'll also see a lot of injuries in the kids areas because the kids are excited and their running around but they get tripped up on their own legs a lot and sometimes they're just plain not looking where they're going (you know how kids are).

All in all I would say Cedar Point is very vigilant in preventing injuries, accidents and death. I have never heard of Cedar Point negligence causing a death and most "accidents" are just cases of breaks working too well and people getting stuck on rides, no injuries just an inconvenience.

From what i've got heard, the only deaths that have got here approximately on cedar element rides weren't from the rides themselves or from a mistake the worker made. the only one i'm able to bear in mind is somebody had a heart attack on the Wildcat and gave up the ghost. Cedar element is the main secure US park there is.
