Yes, you can. The laptop will be totally fine as all the information is stored permanently on the hard drive, which doesn't require power going to it for the information to stay safely on there. If you unplug the router then you *might* need to set your net connection up on it again afterwards, but as long as you're comfortable doing that then it's no real problem.

Oh, and I disagree entirely with Derek D's advice. People run their laptops until the battery's completely flat all the time, it's a totally commonplace event and requires nothing to sort except plugging it in again and letting it charge up for a while.

I'm nearly a novice too. Don't make the same mistake as I did. Not needing the laptop I left it unplugged for ages, the battery went past point of no return. Now I need a new battery £92. down the drain.

That deserves some points. Wish someone had told me.

Absolutely.
Shut down properly first then disconnect everything - literally.
On your return switch on and you may just need to let the router reconfigure just a few moments.

I once went away and let someone use my computer. Big mistake - premium rate connections made to dodgy websites.

Have a great holiday

nicely if my laptop replaced into on and hasn't booted down it may in some circumstances yet not very many times reason complications. yet once i replaced into in a laptop save and the guy replaced into attempting to fix a laptop and switched it off without booting down for all time so both it doesn't reason a lot damage or he wasn't an rather solid specialist.
