Do you have the original system CD that came with your computer, because something is bound to go wrong?
What everybody failed to mention is that this will only work if you had chosen the option of saving the old files when updating to IE7. Otherwise backups copies of the old files were not made which means that you cannot go back to IE6. The good thing is that IE is an integral part of the Windows so you cannot completely remove it. There is a slight chance that you uninstall IE7 and when you try to use IE6, the computer might ask you to insert the CD so that it can get some of the old files back. Notice that without IE working properly, you cannot even go to the internet to download them because you need IE in the first place. The only other possibility is that the setup might give you the option to check for updates in which case you will get IE7 again.
So, because of all this I HATE MICROSOFT INTERNET EXPLORER. I use to use it all the time but THEN I turned to Firefox. Trust me when I say this, firefox is much much better than IE. I have used it for over two years and it has not crashed on me a single time. It has a lot of very handy and nifty features built in. It is very small, efficient, doesn't take a lot of processing power, completely free, updated regularly, and it is completely customizable. It has a lot of skins and themes available which are very easy to download and install. Several extensions are available which enhance the functionality such as download managers where you can download several files at once, and you can stop them, pause them, and resume them.
I am assuming that you want to get rid of IE7 because you hate it in which case firefox is the way to go. Just to let you know, all of the "new" features you saw in IE7 were stolen from firefox. Just try it out. You will love it.

Listen - IE7 is a major security update in addition to the new browser interface. I do NOT recommend that you back off IE7. If you are having problems, then I would suggest that you have some malware trying to take advantage of the old files that were updated.
If it's slow browsing, then turn off the anti-phishing feature in IE7 or run firefox.
Why not address the problems you ARE having? There are a lot of people out here like me that can walk you through the specifics. IE7 is stable and much more secure than IE6.
I will monitor this thread for the next day or two if you want to update your question with some more specifics.

Trouble with system wide graphics right? I too deleted and yes it does go back but you are better off restoring your system to a day or closest to the day you installed it, is the only way to get rid of the 'clear type' stuff they put in with it.
