My first 2 sons were full term and my third son was born at 34 weeks. The doctors couldnt figure out why I went into labor with him early, but I did. Everything turned out great and he was extremely healthy and we went home within a couple of days, but now Im pregnant with my 4th baby. I have read that if you have one premature baby , that you have a 40% chance of having another. I am probably just worrying for nothing, but I cant help it. I keep thinking I could possibly go into labor even earlier. How many of you have had more than one premature baby?

wow this could have been my question. all my children were early but first two were only 1 to 2 weeks early the third like you I had at 34 weeks he stayed in hospital for a couple of weeks, he is 7 now and very healthy, my 4 child was about 3 weeks early, but because I already had a premie when i hit my 7 month my doctors gave me steriod shot to speed up the babys lung development, just in case, your doctor will go through this with you, and take good care of you, when these things happen with no know cause they usually dont repeat themselves, but let the doctor know your worries you may need to see him more often and if you ever have any concerns call them anytime day or night, no question is a dumb question when you are pregnant, congratulations and good luck

Hi, My first baby was born a month early. I have had three more children since and none of them have been premature, in fact two of them were late. Try to relax and not worry. I am a firm believer that we manifest our fears and constant worry could bring on labor. Every birth is different and babies come when they are ready. Just enjoy the experience and think positive. Good Luck and congratulations.

the chances of having a second preterm baby really depend on your personal situation my son was born at 25 weeks becasue of a huge # of factors... a previous miscarriage a month before getting preg with him major stress a 9 hour flight from germany.. (i'm not sure bout this but the docs say it was a factor) and an underlying thyroid problem...without the thyroid problem my chances of another are actually pretty slim... your doctor should be watching you more closly and if your really worried about it I would recomend taking it easy the last few weeks to take stress of the baby and your body.. I know how scary it can be to be thinking about having another preemie baby. I would seriously talk with my doctor and have them evaluate the risk of another preterm birth.. most docs will be happy to go over everything youcan do just to calm your fears....Goood Luck! :D

I can see that you are worried. Its not always bad to have a premature baby. In fact i am one! I was born 2 months early. I am too young to have a baby but i understand your problem. My parents always talk about how I was in the incubator and had tubes all through my body. Good luck with your premee babies! and Don't Worry!

My first child was 8 weeks premature. My next two were full term. Each pregnancy is different. Try not to worry. I know that's hard to do! Good luck.

Maybe its just cause that was your third he came a little early...im sure youll be fine with this one..but stressing yourself out about it isnt going to help....your chances of having a boy or girl are 50/50 and you proably wont have an early baby goodluck to you and congratulations on the baby!

i had a preemie at 29.5 weeks, due to premature rupture of the membranes at 27 weeks. We dont know why, i didnt have any infections. Of course when i became pg again i was a nervous wreck b/c of statistics like that! my son, however, was born 3 days shy of his due date :). In your case, if you were having premature labor, they sometimes use progesterone shots to help women to avoid problems in their next pregnancy. you should talk to your doctor about that!

my girlfriend is 23, and she was a premie baby. she's lived a full life free of health issues (she's in GREAT shape, and healthier than most ppl in general). she has 2 younger siblings that were not premies. i know a few other ppl that were born prematurely, and none have ever mentioned a younger sibling that was a premie also.
