Double spaced is asetting in the application you are typing in. It spaces the lines further apart. Essentially doubling the space between the lines of text. Usually done so tht comments can more easily be inserted. In MS Word for mac it is in the format menu under paragraph options

Normal Way
Click on the "Format" menu.
Click "Paragraph".
Click the "Line Spacing" drop-down and select "Double".
Click "OK".
Quick and Dirty
Select all the text you want double-spaced.
Press CTRL and 2.
To return to single-spacing, select all the text again and press CTRL and 1.
Tips
For the Quick and Dirty method, if you have already typed something, make sure you click/drag and highlight everything you typed before doing these steps or it will not get double-spaced.

Page format. If you are using word, right next to the alignment choices there is a spacing choice. As I type this... this is single space...
This next sentence will be double spaced. Usually teachers ask
for it so they can make notes in between the lines; corrections, etc.
It really saddens me that so many people are getting this wrong.

Double space will be two lines between each line of typing. You can use format. This typing I am doing now is single space, but
here it is double spaced. There is a blank space between this
line and the line above.

Double spacing is making a wider gab between lines, if you are using word it should be under the paragraph option.

To do it in Word....go to the menu at the top of your screen where it says "Format"... the drop down menu will appear....select "Paragraph".......you'll see a window for "Line Spacing"....it has a drop down menu and you can select "double" and hit "Okay."
I find that I like to work in single space so that I can quickly proofread my work and highlight all the text whean I'm finished and change the spacing to double.
