Islam is reckoned to be Europe's fastest growing religion and, in the Netherlands, this appears to be the case.

Based on 2004 figures, 5.8% of the total population of the Netherlands (just under a million) were Muslims, second highest in Western Europe only to France.

I'm Dutch and I guess Islam is the fastest growing religion here in The Netherlands, for the simple reason of lack of interest for the Christian churches........

Many churches are out of use now, some have been changed into concert halls or even for student housing.

So, it's not so much the growing number of Muslims but also the reducing number of Christians that influence the statistics in percentages.
