she's right... pregnancy calculations are different than what we expect. such as we actually carry a baby 10 months not 9 months like everyone percieves

Congratulations honey. The difference in time that you are commenting about comes from the fact that your pregnancy will always be calculated as having started on the first day of your last period. That is just how doctors and every pregnancy chart or book that you look at will always calculate your pregnancy. For instance if you read a book that tells you what stage of development the fetus is at for 12 weeks, in actual fact that is ten weeks.
Don't ask me why it is done this way, after 5 babies and many years of pregnancy counseling I have quit asking. It is just the way it is done. If I had to have a theory it would be that since the actual date of conception could not possibly known (all women's cycles are slightly different) they use the last date that they know for an absolute fact, that being the first day of your last period.
That is the way I would explain it.
I hope I have helped! I am really happy for you!

Because pregnancy is counted from the first day of your last period-so yes 5 weeks pregnant-3 weeks gestation which means your baby is 3 weeks old but you are considered 5 weeks pregnant.Seems silly but that is how they do the calculation.

because it goes from the fist day of the last period.
