it depends on where you want to put the emphasis... all can be correct.

but ... "...the power of both her and the carnival..." sounds better.

This depend on what the sentence begins with. I like the carnival and her power if you are refering to it being the carnival and her being it. It would make a great paper to make the force of a carnival be femine.
