I have this happen sometimes with my laptop. Try these different steps. Go into Control Panel, Network and Internet Connections, Network Connections. If your Local Area Connection does not say Connected, right click on it and click repair. That usually works with mine.

If that does not work, double the icon in your tray that looks like a little PC with a red X over it. When you first set up your router, you should have given the network a name. Make sure that the connection it's showing is for the name you choose, tell it to try to connect again.

If these steps do not work. Unplug the power from both your router and your modem. After a few seconds, plug the power back into your modem and wait until it powers up. Once it powers up and finds the connection, plug the power back into your router. After a little while your modem should start flashing PC activity and so should your router. Then go and repair your connection again like I mentioned in the first step. This process should get it up and running unless you set up the network wrong.

I wasn't able to actually set up a network myself, I had to just get my laptop to find the connection. When I tried to setup the network I lost my connection even though it had been working before. So I had to remove the network and run it without it. I was still able to do everything I needed to though, so I didn't mind.

I hope this helps. If these don't work, I would call your internet service provider technical assistance with help.

Which router do you have? I have a Belkin and found that, to set it up I had to use a 'Ethernet' connection. Try it!

have you setup a proper ssid, and wep/wpa key?
if no i would advise reading the manual for the router or the troubleshooting steps it has in the manual
