They are called abecedarian sentences and there are lots more. The shortest is "The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog." Calligraphers use these to practice all the letters in a certain style of calligraphy. Some others are:

emilyh - you're right, that is thought to be the shortest English sentence (at least one that makes sense) containing every letter of the alphabet.

All these people who are putting "jumped" - where's your s? ;)
mcdo_h - "jumps ... dog" is only eight letters, "jumped ... dogs" is nine.
