I have a 1999 Ford Explorer with automatic 4WD. It has just started flashing 4 Hi and 4 Lo at the same time every 2 mi. Any suggestions as to what is going on?

i own a repair shop,and it sounds like the switch is going bad on it,i have had a few in the shop that have did this,and after replacing the switch it corrected the problem on them,,good luck i hope this help,s.

it may be the shift motor on the transfer case. a plastic tab breaks off inside the motor contact area causing the tabs to fall off the end of the contact plate from motor overtravel and the controller gets confused as to the shift motor position.

most likely you need to change the transmission selector switch or the position switch on the gear selector .....go to a dealer and get the repair .....trying to save $ and do it yourself may add another problem and you will get a guarantee also..........
