Yesterday I went to my prenatal appt. I am 6months pregnant. My prepregnancy weight is between 122-125 I am 5'6. I weighed in yesterday at 133. My doctor had the nerve to tell me that I am gaining to much weight. First of all I am still really small and so is my belly. And I could care less if I gain weight because..hello I am pregnant. But its just the way she said it like what happens if she went and told the wrong person that and they went home and mad themself puke. I think I am doing damn good. So anyways my question is how much weight did you gain at 6months pregnant?

With my first child, I weighed 150 lbs. to start and the day before I delivered, I weighed in at 215 lbs. That's 65 lbs!! towards the end, my Dr. told me to watch it because that was getting up there. I eventually lost most of the weight over the past 4 years, then gained some and then lost some and then gained some more. I am 12 weeks preggo now. I weighed in this time at 185 and have only gained 1 lb. so far. I have corrected my eating habits and haven't even wanted to eat the candy bar and bottle of soda between breakfast and lunch! You do not have anything to worry about in my opinion. Good luck!

Eleven pounds is not too much weight gain. I do not remember what I had gained by 6 months, but I gained about 45 pounds altogether with my first pregnancy (I know.... gasp!). I was ALL baby too. You are "supposed" to gain between 20 or 30 pounds, but as long as you are healthy and your baby is healthy, then you are fine. During the last trimester you will probably gain about a pound a week so that will put you in the about 20-30 pound zone. As long as you are making good food choices, then you are fine. Ignore the doctors comments or ask if you can see another doc.

The very first time I got pregnant my doctor said the same exact thing and told me I wouldnt be happy with myself after pregnancy, etc...I was very upset with her. I gained lots anyways, and was fine. Then gained even more with my 2nd...had a different doctor and they didnt say too much. But with my 3rd son I my doctor and his nurse both told me just to eat what I want cuz Im pregnant. I loved that doctor. I never got gestational diabetes or anything like that because of it. Now Im 20 weeks with my 4th child and I have gained about 10 or 11 pounds so far. ONe month I had gained 1 pound and another I had gained 6! Oh well, I just enjoy it.

Well I would not be of much help because with my first son I gained 50 pounds and with my second I gained 60. I had gestational diabetes with both of my boys. Maybe she is concerned about GD. I don't know all I know is with my first son my Dr. was on my back big time. He realized with my second son that I could loose the weight so he didn't say anything. My youngest is 18 months old and I am 5.0 ft weighing 110 pounds. So I think for two kids that's pretty good. Good Luck and you will do fine :)

With pregnancy number 3, I gained a total of 45 lbs. One week after her birth I was back into my pre-pregnancy pants. I was really proud. I think you have a right attitude towards the whole thing. It looks like you've only gained about 10 lbs in 6 mo. Heck that's wonderful! As long as the baby is healthy, who cares! This OB is an idiot to say that to you. Keep up the great work.

I've gained about the same amount of weight as you and I'm only 16 weeks! I asked my doctor a couple of times if my weight gain is ok and he said it's just right. I don't know what some of these doctors are thinking - I had a friend whose doctor told her if she didn't stop eating so much fruit her baby was going to be fat. Fruit! I wouldn't worry about it, but if she keeps making comments or upsetting you I might switch doctors if possible.

my normal weight is around 145-150, and i got up to 180 during my pregnancy. U are doing fine, my doctors and nurses were telling me the opposite when i was 6 months, they said i wasnt gaining enough weight, but i thought that was stupid, because being doctors and nurses, they should know by now that every single woman is different and every single pregnancy is different. My baby was 7 pounds 3 oz when he was born, so i guess i wasnt starving myself after all!! He is 3 months now and is almost 20 pounds. people are always going to have advice for u, but the best advice is go with your heart and your baby, you will know what to do the minute he/she comes out!!

Maybe your doctor read your chart wrong. In any case, stand up for yourself because you haven't gained hardly any weight at all! I put on at least 40 lbs with each of my four (my second pregnancy was the hardest and I gained 56 lbs that time around).
You're doing fine! Just take care of yourself. You know your body better than any doctor could!

I think you are doing just fine.
You are supposed to gain 5 or so in the first trimester, and one pound per week after that. So if anything I would say that you haven't gained enough! Your doctor sounds catty, and its not like your weight is a problem for the fetus or for your health!

With my son I lost 50 pounds the first 6 months because I had bad morning sickness. I finally started gaining back the 50 pounds before having him. I was in love with ginger ale those last 3 months.
