Uninstall Norton and get a good antivirus program. Here you have some free ones:

When your subscription expires, you will no longer be protected from any viruses that come out on a daily basis. You no longer get updates when your subscription expires. They all scan, but your pc is not secure any longer. Will not have the signature updates for all the latest viruses that are written daily.

Here is an excellent free program that I use in two pc's an I have never had one virus in over nine years.

Avast has an excellent background scanner that really works in real time to catch a virus before it enters your system and destroy. You get auto, updates two or three times per day.
They will ask you for your email address so they can send you a free key that is good for one year. After one year you just request a new key. The corporate version is the same they just make corporate pay.

It will still catch older viruses (Viri?)
But you really DO need a current Anti-Virus application.
Those virus boogers are always finding new ways to molest your computer!

I happen to like Norton Anti Virus.
( I use Norton Internet Security Professional)

If you care to spend the money ($35?) you need to renew your subscription.

I also use "SpyBot Saerch & Destroy"
available for free at

www.spybot.com

Using these two, Norton and SpyBot, I have only been infected with a virus three times in 15 years, and every time It was entirely my fault. (opened an e-mail that I shouldn't have).

Good Luck!

Norton is one of the most unstable pieces of software that I have ever used. When I worked for Microsoft on the XP project in support, it was one of the top call ins for support. People had a rough time with it.
I have been using and testing AVG Antivirus by Grisoft for a few years now. I have never, on about 25 machines, ever had a problem with it. It is small, non-intrusive, and best of all..... FREE!
Their spyware appears to be just as good, and... it's FREE!

You can find these downloads at:
anti-virus http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/2/
anti-spyware http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/20/lng/us/tpl/v5

Make sure that you uninstall all of your Norton antivirus before installing any new software. :-)

As the first poster said: ditch Norton Antivirus because it sucks. It makes your computer horribly slow. Instead, switch to the free AVG virusscanner. See my source list for a download link.

It is a waste of time.. a program that is not updated is worthless. I recommend you delete norton and install active virus shield. It is the very best one and it is FREE.

with out the subscription you will not get any new virus def. updates. My suggestion is buy a new subscription or get one of the free virus scanners. I would recommend AVG
