I am trying out for this school play. The part I am trying out for has to hurt their knee...in my audition i have to have my knee give out. How do I make my knee give out and make it look convincing?? If it isn't convincing i won't get the part. Also, how do i make it look and sound like I'm in pain. Please help! I REALLY WANT THIS ROLE!!!

first get a recorder... then stand up and stub your little toe on a chair, and record the sound. Once you can mimmic that sound, you will be able to make it SOUND like you are in pain. Second, when you make your knee give out, start out by twisting your ankle... remember the body will give out from the bottem up. Step on the ball of your foot, and slide your heel around the OUTSIDE so your knee goes towards the inside of your body. This will cause your legs to go in an awkward position, (( one that is least likely to hurt you )), as well as cause you to loose balance and fall flat on your nose!!!!

Please don't take offense at this,,, nor some of the other answers either,,,please.

It's called ACTING for very specific reasons.

Again, no offense,,, """YOU'VE never FAKED anything???"""

Relax just before you fold your knee, make sounds as if something is wrong, you feel it, but perhaps it's not yet pain. Let your knee/ leg fold under you, and drop to it appropriately,,,convincingly, making sounds that NOW,,,are PAIN.

Depending on your LICENSE, take it as far as you need, and in whatever way the other actors are scripted to react/respond,,,assuming you've READ the part, as well as the corresponding script in the scene.

Only a true actor or actress can answer this. I would team up with a friend of your who is a good actor or actress and just practice. That is the best you can do! Every actor or actress has their own style and I can't really tell you how to act a part (then again I am not an actresss...). So I would just be prepared and have practiced hard, so that you will nail the audition. Good luck!

Generally, if you simply have no muscle tension, and are very relaxed, the knee will go out in its own. Try practicing a bit on carpet, then practicing small cries of pain. Good luck.

Well, as a soccer player, you should know what pain is like first hand. Take any painful experience you've had (emotionally or physically), and use it to help you express yourself.
